![]()
WHAT'S ON
It is organised into two age groups:
Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (during school term time)
Meet other parents for an hour
or two and enjoy a coffee break.
Youth Club meets every Friday evening during term time. 7pm till 9pm is for children aged 7 plus and for those over 12 youth club continues until 10pm. We currently have 60 children on our register. The average weekly attendance is 40, with 9 helpers. The children come from the local community, the corps and their friends.
Each week there is a variety of activities including football, table tennis, pool, snooker and air-hockey. We also have a Wii and our most recent purchase Xbox 360. A craft activity is organised and this has included making cards, painting candle holders for mother’s day gifts, making clay models, decorating eggs, and much more.
Last term two representatives from Bobby Brown (John Lewis) came and spent the evening demonstrating how to apply make up. Two girls were chosen as a models and then the girls had a go at applying make up to each other. Lots of tips were picked up and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It is hoped that the representatives will come back again and demonstrate "painting your nails".
The boys like playing football. During this term we are organising for someone to come in and do soccer skills with them.
A tuck shop is available for the children to buy drinks, crisps, chocolate and pick n mix sweets.
On our last Friday before the Easter break we held an egg rolling competition with the eggs the children had decorated. The winner was Darius-Kwasi Boahene. The children also made their own pizzas.
During our next term we are planning to start a gardening club. We hope that you will see the results of their gardening skills around the hall as the summer months ap-proach.
Fridays in June are usually park nights (weather permitting). This gives the boys a chance to play football in a larger area and the girls (& boys who don"t play football) to play in the park.
Looking after the children each week is tiring but rewarding. So if you have a spare cou-ple of hours on a Friday night you would be very welcome to come and see what goes on for yourself.
